Vienna records best-ever year for meetings in 2025

Vienna confirmed 2025 as the most successful year in its history as an international destination for congresses and events.

With 7,196 congresses and corporate events, more than two million visitor overnight stays, and new double-digit growth, the city reached new heights in 2025, strengthening its position among the world’s leading meeting destinations.

In 2025, congresses and corporate events generated well over two million overnight stays for the first time, totaling 2,545,348 — a 27% increase compared to 2024.

Participant numbers also rose, reaching 794,812 (up 19%). New records were set in terms of economic impact: meetings held in Vienna contributed €1.7 billion to Austria’s GDP, supported 19,300 full-time jobs, and generated €348 million in tax revenue nationwide, including €39 million for Vienna.

International congresses proved to be the main growth driver. Of the total €1.7 billion GDP contribution in 2025, nearly two-thirds (around 59%, or €1 billion) came from congresses — with the largest share (€828 million) generated by international formats.

In 2025, we further strengthened our position as a leading international meetings destination. A record number of congresses, corporate meetings, overnight stays, and participants generated billions in economic impact, supporting thousands of jobs far beyond the hospitality sector. Thanks to a combination of a long-standing congress tradition, outstanding infrastructure, and strategic positioning, Vienna has firmly established itself as a global meeting place for science, business, innovation, and diplomacy,” said Norbert Kettner, CEO of the Vienna Tourist Board.
