Flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced a major new aircraft order with Boeing.
It intends to buy 50 Boeing 737-8s in a multi-billion-dollar deal.
The deal was announced during President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam.
Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of Vietnam Airlines said: “In line with Vietnam Airlines’ 2025-2030 fleet strategy, aircraft investment is crucial for the airline’s recovery.”
The new narrow-body fleet will allow us to expand services on domestic and Asian routes.”
US and Vietnam officials said it will bolster jobs in both countries.
Growing demand has driven Vietnam Airlines to acquire an additional 100 aircraft by 2035, including the Boeing 737 Max.

Vietnam Airlines has a fleet of 100 planes, including 65 narrow-bodies, serving nearly 100 domestic and international routes.
