Vietnam on track to reach full year tourism target
Vietnam welcomed nearly 1.3 million international visitors last month, pushing the total for the year to date to 12.7 million, up 43 % on last year.
Travel by air accounted for nearly 10.8 million, or 84.9% of the total, also up nearly 40% year on year.
South Korea remained the largest source market in September, with over 355,000 visitors.
Next was China with more than 257,000 visitors.
Overall year to date, the vast majority of tourists are from within Asia with 1.4 million arrivals from Europe and over 700,000 from the US.
Vietnam tourism leaders are still bullish on meeting the full year target of 17-18 million international visitors.
“Based on these factors, the goal of welcoming 18 million international visitors this year is achievable,” said Nguyen Le Phuc, Deputy Director of the National Tourism Authority of Vietnam.
Phuc said the North is recovering well after the super typhoon a month ago.
