VisitBritain predicts boost in UK inbound tourism spending
VisitBritain published its UK inbound tourism forecast for 2023.
It forecasts continued strong recovery in overseas visitor spending.
The report shows spending will grow faster than visitor volume, with higher spending per trip.
Its overall forecast is for spending of £29.5 billion in 2023, up 4% on the record high in 2019.
Over 35 million visits are forecast, which is 86% of the 40.9 million in 2019.
UK Tourism Minister Stuart Andrew said:” It is fantastic to see that tourism is continuing to bounce back strongly.”
VisitBritain will launch a new GREAT Britain marketing campaign across Europe, the GCC and the US in early 2023.
It inspires visitors to ‘See Things Differently.’
The campaign will showcase major events including the Coronation of King Charles III in May, with an additional Bank Holiday announced, and Liverpool hosting the Eurovision Song Contest.
VisitBritain’s research earlier in 2022 showed that exploring Britain’s history and heritage is the top motivator for international travellers.
Inbound tourism was worth more than £28 billion to the UK economy in 2019, its third largest service export.
