West Bali paradise destination goes for sustainability accolade
Plataran l’Harmonie in selection for Global Top100 Sustainable Destinations
Plataran L’Harmonie in the West Bali National Park is a nature based ecotourism destination with diving, snorkeling, kayaking, trekking, biking, bird watching and a choice of accommodations from villas to lodges.
This paradise of a destination is working hard to make sure that it is not ‘Paradise Lost’.
West Bali is known for its national park, an area that is blessed with a range of ecosystems: rainforest, dry savanna, acacia scrub and lowland forests, as well as more montane forests in the higher centre.
One hundred and sixty species of bird have been recorded in the park, including the endangered Bali Starling, Bali’s only endemic vertebrate species. And proposing the park as the world’s new wonder destination, Plataran Indonesia has unveiled "Plataran L’Harmonie – The Gateway Planet, Nature Unleashed" as a platform to promote the park as a unique and exotic destination that encompasses 382 hectares of land and 10km of coastline.
For the last 19 years Plataran L’Harmonie has committed to preserve West Bali National Park and has been keeping the ecosystem in its best native environment ever since.
The destination’s philosophy of being nature based and environmentally-friendly has allowed it to create all buildings using local materials, re-useing resources, and maintaining the local culture by adapting its system and synergy.
Plataran l’Harmonie is also actively creating pioneering programmes to enhance and respect its fabulous environmental heritage including its EsEmGe Bali Starling Sanctuary, Endemic Tree Planting Program, its mangrove conservation programme and its underwater sea and beach cleaning programme.
And local artisans benefit from the visitor economy. There are opportunities to all local artisans to have a workshop and exhibit their products, providing guests with authentic local articles.
All this is just the beginning – Plataran l’Harmonie is determined to develop sustainably, for the benefit of local communities and visitors in search of a truly authentic experience.
