WestJet to cancel 15 per cent of January flights
Canadian carrier WestJet Airlines will trim schedules by 15% for the next month. It is struggling with staffing levels impacted by the spread of the Omicron variant. WestJet spokeswoman Morgan Bell said 181 employees have currently testing positive for Covid.
Schedules will be cut through the end of January. The airline has been currently operating 450 flights a day. It is a ‘last resort’ CEO Harry Taylor said.
"We could not have anticipated the rapid and unpredictable impact of the Omicron variant on our people and operations."
