Woman arrested after baby overboard scare
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of wasting police time after reports of a baby falling from a ferry turned out to be false.
The 37-year-old was rescued from Belfast Lough on Wednesday night after she fell overboard from a Stena Line ferry as it arrived in Belfast from Scotland.
Initial reports said a baby had also fallen into the water and a major search and rescue operation was launched (see earlier story).
But this afternoon police in Northern Ireland said the search had been called off "after enquiries with the 37-year-old woman and her family".
The woman was treated for hypothermia in a nearby hospital before being discharged.
