WTTC announces speaker lineup for Global Summit in Manila
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) unveiled its roster of speakers for the upcoming Global Summit in Manila.
It includes Indonesian-Dutch activist Melati Wijsen, who founded Bye Bye Plastics, a global movement to end the use of plastic bags.
South Korean politician Ban Ki-Moon who served as Secretary-General of the United Nations between 2007 and 2016, will address delegates virtually.
Also taking to the stage at the Global Summit will be Tourism Ministers from Spain, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand, Japan, Maldives, and Barbados amongst others.
Julia Simpson, World Travel & Tourism Council President & CEO, said: “We are delighted to have such influential speakers already confirmed for our Global Summit in Manila.”
The hybrid event takes place in Manila, the Philippines from 20-22 April.
Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, Philippines Tourism Secretary, said: “Preparations are underway to ensure the success of WTTC’s Global Summit in Manila, which serves as the light at the end of tunnel following a long period of darkness for global tourism.”
Other notable speakers taking to the stage include Arnold Donald, President & CEO Carnival Corporation and Chairman at WTTC; Greg O’Hara, Founder and Senior Managing Director Certares and Vice Charman at WTTC; and Craig Smith, Group President International Division Marriott International..
More speakers will be announced over the coming weeks.
WTTC’s recent research shows the forecast for the Asia Pacific region could see its travel and tourism sector approaching pre-pandemic levels this year.
