Wynn Resorts unveils big Macau expansion

Wynn Resorts has big ambitions to expand its Macau operations.
It unveiled a new $2 billion project which will see an additional 1,300 rooms in two towers.
The new project dubbed the Crystal Pavilion will take shape adjacent to the existing Wynn Palace in Cotai.
Made almost entirely of glass and steel, it will feature a host of new non-gambling amenities including an art museum, gardens a theatre and new food and beverage outlets.
Operators are under pressure from the government to diversify their product to offer more non-gaming options, particularly for the core mainland China market.
Construction on the first phase is slated to begin in 2021 for an expected 2024 opening.
Wynn said it also plans a $125 million refresh for its existing resort in Macau.
Macau casino revenue in June confounded analysts by growing nearly 6% year-on-year to MOP 23.8 billion (US$3 billion), despite reports of belt-tightening due to the ongoing US-China trade dispute
