Wynwood Zika alert to be lifted

Monday, 19 September 20163 min read
Florida Governor Rick Scott is likely to give the Miami neighborhood of Wynwood the Zika all-clear.
Gov Scott is due to visit the neighborhood Monday and is expected to announce it is no longer a Zika hot zone.
No new cases of active transmission have been detected in the last 45 days.
However that is not the case in nearby Miami Beach where authorities have expanded the local transmission area by more than three times.
It now measures more than four square miles, covering most of the city.
Aerial spraying began Sunday over the expanded area.
The governor on Friday authorized an additional $10 million in state funds to combat the spread of Zika.
Florida has so far recorded 800 Zika cases with nearly 10% of these caused by local transmission.
