16 Oasis sailings altered

Friday, 5 June 20093 min read

Oasis of the Seas, the world’s larest cruise ship, will not be calling in Jamaica as originally planned as part of its debut summer of Caribbean cruises.

The giant vessel will be visiting Costa Maya in Mexico instead of Falmouth in Jamaica.

The change affects 16 Western Caribbean sailings by the 5,400-passenger ship between May and November 2010.

Oasis is now scheduled to resume the original Western Caribbean itinerary and make its maiden call in Falmouth during its December 11, 2010 sailing.

The revised itinerary for next summer includes calls at Cozumel, Mexico, and Labadee, Royal Caribbean International’s private beach on the northern coast of Haiti, as scheduled.

The line’s land operations senior vice-president Craig Milan said: “We continue to look forward to calling at Falmouth on a regular basis with Oasis of the Seas and her sister ship Allure of the Seas.

The completion of the port is going to take longer than we had hoped, but Falmouth will be outstanding when it is completed.”

On the modified itineraries, Oasis of the Seas’ will dock at Costa Maya’s recently restored pier, providing passengers with access to shore without tendering.
Excursion options include diving in search of undersea life on catamaran, an all terrain vehicle adventure or exploring Chacchoben Mayan ruins in the jungle near the Belizean border.
Oasis of the Seas will alternate its Western Caribbean itinerary with an Eastern Caribbean itinerary, which includes calls at St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Nassau, Bahamas.
