Abacus drives new business to Mongolia
Mongolia’s second largest airline, Hunnu Air has called in Abacus to drive its strategy of encouraging more corporate bookings and improve access to the country’s unique tourism experiences.
Margad Byambajav, VP and CCO for Hunnu Air, said the airline is working with Abacus "to make it easier to arrange travel to Mongolia from Asia’s main Hong Kong, Thai, Malaysian and Taiwanese feeder markets, as well as at home with our domestic network".
Hunnu Air is contributing revenues of its own to Mongolia’s booming economic growth with expanded routes and new digital services.
An Abacus e-ticketing capability will now streamline business and leisure bookings to build volumes from Hong Kong and Bangkok, as well as attracting new traffic onto its Hailar and Inner Mongolian routes.
Euromonitor International figures shown that 62% of travel spend in Mongolia is generated from foreign visitors, while business arrivals account for more than half of total arrivals.
Seasonal services to the fast moving feeder markets of Shanghai, Haneda (Tokyo) and Sanya (Hainan) will also be made more accessible with Abacus distributing the content to travel agents at more than 20,000 locations in the region.
Hunnu Air (formerly Mongolian Airlines Group) is investing in new Airbus A330-200s in anticipation of the increased demand, enhancing its A319 fleet.
