Accor assists disabled children in Bali
NUSA DUA – Accor Asia Pacific hotels in Bali have committed to help provide food for children in the care of the Bali chapter of the Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Children (YPAC).
The hotels are Sofitel Seminyak Bali, Novotel Benoa, Novotel Nusa Dua, Mercure Kuta, Mercure Resort Sanur and All Seasons Legian Bali.
Viva Yuliana Dewi, public relations manager of Sofitel Seminyak Bali, said the aid was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility project.
“On our initial visit to the foundation’s dormitory, we found the children only received 15 kilograms of rice a month and that the staffers were underpaid,†said Yuliana.
“We do not want the children to consume instant noodles everyday, therefore all six Accor Hotels decided to supply them with food.”
Accor staff in Bali are also helping to renovate the dormitory’s kitchen, bathroom facilities and re-paint the building.
Dozens of hotel employees, including general managers, were involved in cleaning and making repairs to the dormitory.
The hotels have organised a rota between themselves to feed the children on a daily basis.
Hotel staff will also help out with repairs and maintenance of the building.
“Each Accor hotel in Bali sent between 11 and 20 staffers to participate in the activity,” Yuliana said.
Head of YPAC Bali Ardhini Suardana said the government helped in providing food, but she expected, with the help from Accor Hotels, that the children would receive the proper nutrition.
The initiative was inspired by an Accor PR executive in Australia, whose friends – celebrating a birthday in Bali – kick-started the project with donations of cash and educational material for the children of the foundation.
