Air Astana rolls out 'snow leopard' Embraer E190 jet

Kazakhstan carrier Air Astana has unveiled its first next-gen Embraer E190-E2.

The first of five Embraer E190-E2 aircraft scheduled for delivery, the new jet features a special Air Astana ‘Snow Leopard’ livery.

The design hopes to draw global attention to the threat of extinction of the large wild cat, which is found in the mountain ranges in southern Kazakhstan.

The airline aims to push for enhanced protection for endangered species like the Snow Leopard.

The new Embraer E190-E2 jets will progressively replace older Embraer E190s in the fleet which currently serve domestic and low-density regional routes.

The twin engine, single aisle Embraer E190-E2 has a flying range of more than 5,000 km and offers lower operating costs, emissions and noise.

Air Astana’s fleet also comprises Boeing 767, 757, and Airbus A320 family aircraft including the A320neo and A321neo.
