AirAsia’s second coming in Japan is primed for take-off later this month.
A dedicated AirAsia Japan has finally been re-established and will begin services on October 29.
The maiden flight will take off from Nagoya to Sapporo, a service which will operate twice daily.
AirAsia Japan is a joint venture between with e-commerce giant Rakuten, Octave Japan Infrastructure Fund I GK, Noevir Holdings and Alpen.
AirAsia owns 49% of the new business.
"It is a great pleasure to announce AirAsia Japan’s first route from Nagoya to Sapporo is open for sale. We are honoured to be the first airline to be based in Nagoya’s Chubu Centrair International Airport, and we are committed to connecting as many guests as possible at low fares to AirAsia’s extensive network," said AirAsia Japan CEO Osamu Hata.
The first AirAsia Japan unit ended in 2013, which was a JV with Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways.
"It’s great to be back in Japan. It hasn’t been easy, and I want to thank my partners Rakuten, Octave, Noevir and Alpen for their support and patience," said AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandez.
