An airport security worker has been caught red-handed with stolen iPads after a sting operation planted the devices in luggage.
In October, a worker for Transportation Security Administration, an agency of the US department of Homeland Security which screens passengers and baggage at 450 US airports, was tracked with a stolen iPad and filmed on TV with the stolen goods in his house.
This week another employee was arrested for stealing from passengers at New York’s JFK International airport.
The TSA baggage screener was being probed by a sting operation conducted by the TSA and the Port Authority Police Department, reports TV news channel ABC.
Two iPads with tracking capabilities had been planted in luggage and the worker was arrested as he was caught leaving the airport with the equipment and and other stolen electronics.
Transportation Security Administration spokesman David Castelveter said in a statement to ABC News: "TSA holds its employees to the highest ethical standards and has zero tolerance for misconduct in the workplace."
In October, ABC News got a list of the highest ranked airports for TSA thefts from the TSA itself which ranked Miami airport top and JFK number two.
