Alaska Airlines has named John Ladner managing director of fleet, standards and operational control, in a return to the position he previously held in 2010-2011.

Ladner replaces Tom Kemp, who has been promoted to vice president of flight operations.

Ladner has spent 19 years at Alaska and was managing director of Seattle airport operations.

He has also held the positions of Seattle chief pilot, flight operations duty officer and was also a certified FAA check airman.

Ladner was a pilot and check airman during a seven year stint at Anchorage-based Era Aviation.

"At Alaska we strive for operational excellence, while never losing sight of our primary value: Safety," said Tom Kemp, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of flight operations.

"John’s expertise in fleet standards is a great asset to our safety-first focus."

Ladner will be responsible for operational and flight standards and validating pilots.
