Alaska Airlines operating Hawaii wildfire relief flights
Alaska Airlines is sending rescue flights with Hawaii wildfire relief supplies to Maui.
The wildfires have killed dozens of people and destroyed most of the historic town of Lahaina.
Alaska Air is flying in supplies like water, non-perishable food, pillows, blankets, towels, baby formula and diapers.
It will bring back displaced travelers on the flights to Seattle on Friday morning.
The airline expects to operate more relief flights in the coming days.
It will also run inter-island flights between Maui and Honolulu.
Additionally, the non-profit organization Kanu Hawaii will be gifted five million reward points.
Flights are still operating to Maui but Hawaii’s governor asked that tourists don’t come for the time being.
Alaska is offering flexibility on flight changes due to the Hawaii wildfires, for customers with bookings for travel through August 15.
