Alaska Airlines plane damaged during hard landing
An Alaska Airlines plane has been damaged after a hard landing in bad weather.
It landed in Santa Ana John Wayne Airport as Tropical Storm Hilary was passing through.
The left-side landing gear collapsed during the night time landing.
Bright sparks could be seen from the engine against the tarmac after touching down and decelerating.
The aircraft was then unable to taxi to the gate due to the landing gear damage, the airline said.
Passengers and crew were taken by bus to the terminal.
Passengers were shaken up but there were no injuries reported, the Orange County Fire Authority said.
