Alaska Airlines plans to join Oneworld alliance
Alaska Airlines has announced plans to join the Oneworld airline alliance.
It aims to join the alliance as a full member by the summer of 2021.
It will join members American Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, British Airways, Fiji Airways and JAL.
Full membership allows Alaska;s customers to earn and redeem Alaska miles on all flights operated by Oneworld airlines, and lounge access for elite status members.
Oneworld also announced plans to open its own branded airport lounges.
The Oneworld network offers connections to more than 1,200 destinations around the world.
Current Oneworld member LATAM is leaving the alliance due to its strategic tie-up with Skyteam member Delta Air Lines.
LATAM will be replaced by Morocco flag carrier Royal Air Maroc which joins in April.
