Amadeus boosts hotel content
Amadeus has bought hospitality IT suppliers, Optims.
According to the GDS, purchase of Optims will allow it to offer a complete suite of products for the distribution and management of hotel rooms. It will also give a boost to the range of hotel product available to book through Amadeus.
Amadeus first partnered with the European hospitality IT supplier in September 2003 when it bought a 30% shareholding. The latest announcements confirms that Amadeus has taken complete ownership of Optims.
According to Amadeus many hotels waste resources on multiple IT systems and would benefit from streamlining their systems to boost yields.
Following the acquisition Amadeus plans to release a new Hotel Distribution Platform, which can manage multiple distribution channels through a single inventory of rooms and rates.
Amadeus senior vice president corporate strategy, Philippe Chérèque said the decision to take over Optims was part of Amadeus’ strategy to become the leading IT supplier in travel. He said meetings between Amadeus and various hoteliers indicated that there was a need for new technology for hotel distribution and management.
