Amadeus reports a prosperous Q3
Amadeus is bucking the travel industry trend by raising its earnings targets for the year following a positive third quarter.
The GDS reported a better-than-expected third quarter, which saw a 6.2 percent increase in revenue, when compared to the same period last year.
In terms of travel agency net bookings of air tickets, the GDS increased it’s global market share by 1.3 percent, due to a global growth in reservations of 4.8 percent. Eastern Europe has taken over from Asia Pacific, which led the second quarter, as the biggest growth market. Reservations were up 21.5 percent in Eastern Europe, and up 19.4 percent in the Asia Pacific region.
Amadeus has raised its forecast for bookings growth for the year to 31 December 2002, from 1.2 to two percent, and raised the revenue target from 1,822 million euros to 1,840 million.
