Amadeus signs up German airline
Amadeus has signed a fourth airline to its inventory management system, Altéa Plan.
The German low cost airline, dba, has adopted the system is a bid to focus its sales strategy. According to Amadeus, Altéa Plan will allow the airline to compete in the low cost market while maintaining traditional sales channels to its corporate customers.
Altéa Plan allows airlines to build a passenger profile by accessing individual passenger data. Amadeus communications manager Rob Golledge told TravelMole: “Airlines need to move away from one-off transactions. If you think about how many low cost airlines have failed, it is clear that it’s more than just putting low fares on a website that keeps customers. Airlines need to look after customers.”
According to Mr Golledge, Altéa Plan also allows airlines to update schedules or add a new flight to a website or GDS in 15 minutes. “This would take up to a week on some systems”, he said.
Altéa Plan sits in a suite of products together with Altéa Sell (once called Amadeus System User), which is used by 138 airlines, including dba, to co-ordinate multi-channel sales and reservations.
Qantas is the only airline currently using Altéa Plan, the others have signed up but are yet to start installing it.
