Arkansas State Parks expand accessibility with trackchair program

Arkansas State Parks recently showcased the transformative impact of its Trackchair initiative at an exclusive Media Field Trip at Pinnacle Mountain State Park.
The Trackchair initiative allows infirm and disabled users to fully explore nation park terrain safely.
This event offered a hands-on opportunity to see the Trackchair in action, meet users who benefit from this technology, and hear about the importance of accessibility in outdoor recreation.
Arkansas State Parks says it is committed to expanding accessibility across the state.
In 2024, it launched the Trackchair program at Logoly State Park, making it yje first park to offer this service.
There are plans to introduce the Trackchair program at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area before the end of 2025.

Key guidelines for Action Trackchairs at Arkansas State Parks include:
Single Occupancy: The chair is designed for use by one person at a time.
Safety Measures: Users are required to wear a seat belt and power off controls before entering or exiting the chair.
Designated Areas: The chair may be used only on designated trails and areas within Logoly State Park.
Liability Release: Users and their companions waive all rights against Arkansas State Parks, Accessibility Across Arkansas, and the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism for any incidents or injuries arising from the use of the chair.
To use the Action Trackchair, participants must complete an online training session and review the “Action Trackchair Owner’s Manual.”
The User Agreement emphasizes personal responsibility and safe handling of the equipment.
The launch event included a live demonstration of the Action Trackchair, showcasing its capabilities and allowing attendees to see how it opens new possibilities for park exploration.
Arkansas State Parks invites visitors of all abilities to explore Pinnacle Mountain State Park with this innovative addition.
