Aussie troops on Sydney streets to enforce lockdown
More than 300 Australian Defence Force troops are on the ground in Sydney as Australia tightens Covid restrictions. More than five million people are under lockdown in Sydney and its suburbs which entered its sixth week of restrictions.
Troops will assist police with compliance checks of stay-at-home and self-isolation orders,’ NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said. It comes as Brisbane extended movement restrictions that were due to end this week.
