Barrhead Travel reports best ever week for sales

Barrhead Travel Group just had its best ever trading week.

It reported its highest ever trading period for the week ending 19 January.

Compared with the same period last year, the group is trading up by 22%.

Another record-breaking sales day was reported on Saturday 18 January and the weekend overall outperformed the group’s previous record-breaking weekend from last January.

In particular, the group noted high footfall in its retail locations, with a number of its branches enjoying individual sales records.

Summer 2025 remains the highest performing season, with more families beginning to lock-in school holidays as the month progresses.

Late getaways were the second most popular, accounting for almost one in five new bookings.

For Barrhead Travel’s retail network, sunshine holiday favourites such as Tenerife, Mallorca, Alicante and Turkey dominated sales while Brilliant Travel’s homeworking network noted high demand for bucket-list trips such as Seattle and Peru.

“Last week really saw peaks take hold in our retail network,” said Nicki Tempest-Mitchell, Managing Director for Barrhead Travel.

“We’d already had a strong start to January, but it seems that consumer sentiment has changed gears in the last week and has accelerated very quickly”.

“Our branch network has said the atmosphere in stores is buzzing – and we’ve had lots of record performances throughout our regions.”

“As we head into the last couple of weeks of January, we’re anticipating similar levels of demand – 2025 is set to be another great year for travel,” she added.
