Bath Travel upgrades internal internet communications
Independent agency Bath Travel has installed a new internal network to link its 67 branches.
The Bournemouth-based retailer reacted after finding its broadband network could no longer support increasing amounts of data across its network.
The company, which employs 375 agency staff, has brought in ntl:Telewest Business, part of Virgin Media, to help grow its internet capabilities and share information in a faster, more secure environment.
A 2Mb virtual private network has been installed to give a free flow of data between agents and customers with the ability to enhance the amount of bandwidth required as the company grows.
Director and general manager Len Clarke said: “Once the new network was installed we saw a massive improvement in speed and reliability of communications. We can now share and access essential information – such as fast-changing flight details or package offers – in even quicker time.
“We saw around ten per cent business growth in the last year. To sustain the added traffic and the increasingly important medium of the web we need a reliable communications network with bandwidth that can expand as we grow.”
