Beaches closed after California oil spill
California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a state of emergency in Orange County to help the emergency response to the major oil spill near Huntington Beach. A leak from an offshore oil facility leaked about 140,000 gallons into the ocean.
Laguna Beach also closed its beaches. The oil spill has reached the shore, covering an area of about 5.8 nautical miles. It has impacted the Talbert Marshlands and the Santa Ana River Trail, the city of Huntington Beach said in a press release.
