Booking software malware attack impacts new startup Avelo
New airline startup Avelo Airlines is having issues processing reservations just days before it officially launches.
A malware attack has disrupted reservations for about 20 low cost airlines, including Avelo, which use the Radixx reservation system.
Radixx said it identified ‘unusual activity’ last week and is struggling to restore systems for all the airlines.
On its home page, Avelo apologized to customers for the outage.
Radixx is owned by Texas based Sabre Corp but it hasn’t affected major airline customers who use Sabre systems.
Sabre spokesperson Kristin Hays said the company reported the attack to the FBI.
Radixx customers include South African budget airline FlySafair and new carrier Vietravel Airlines.
Avelo is offering flights from Burbank Airport to 11 destinations across California and western states.
