Byrne gets role as Counsellors md

International Travel Connections’ chief executive, Steve Byrne is leaving the operator to join Travel Counsellors.

Mr Byrne, 39 has been named as managing director of the Bolton-based independent agency, and will join before the end of the year. The role has been vacant since the departure of Dominic Speakman at the end of last year, who left to set up his own tour operating business.

Travel Counsellors founder David Speakman will continue in his role as chairman.

Commenting on his appointment Mr Byrne said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at ITC but I am now ready for a new challenge. I am delighted to be joining Travel Counsellors as Managing Director – it is without doubt one of the top jobs in the travel industry.”
