Carnival diverts ships in the Caribbean
Two Carnival ships have changed their itineraries because of Tropical Storm Chantal, although the storm has now been downgraded to a tropical wave.
Carnival’s 2,974-passenger Carnival Liberty skipped a call at St. Thomas due and instead made a stop in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
It will add a stop in Nassau, Bahamas, tomorrow (Friday).
Meanwhile, the 2,758-passenger Carnival Victory swapped a day at seat for a call in Nassau and has switched around calls scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday in Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay, Bahamas.
Cantal has claimed the life of a firefighter in the Dominican Republic who was reportedly swept away by floodwaters.
Although the storm has been downgraded, The National Hurricane Centre warned of storm-force winds in Haiti and Cuba, coastal flooding along the southern coast of Hispaniola, and heavy rain in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas.
