Carnival Miracle first to make post-Odile port call
Carnival Miracle will be the first cruise ship to resume port calls at Cabo San Lucas following the destruction of Hurrican Odile.
Miracle will call on October 6 as part of a new year-round cruise program to the Mexican Riviera.
During this first visit, Carnival crew will deliver much needed supplies to the storm-ravaged area and will off-load bottled water, canned food, cereals, paper products, and personal items for residents.
"We have been in close contact with officials in Cabo San Lucas and have sent our own teams there to evaluate the recovery process," said Gerry Cahill, CEO of Carnival Cruise Line.
While several of the area’s hotels and resorts remained closed, "it is ready for cruise passengers and the majority of restaurants, shops and tours are ready to be enjoyed," according to Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez, federal under minister of tourism for Mexico.
Departing from Long Beach, CA on October 4, the seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise also includes calls at Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.
