Carnival sells iconic Princess ship
Carnival Corp is bidding farewell to another iconic older ship.
Pacific Princess has been sold to an undisclosed buyer.
Launched in 1999 as Renaissance cruise ship, it first sailed for Princess Cruises in 2003.
It was a popular small ship with a strong affiliation with the TV series The Love Boat.
Actor Gavin MacLeod, Captain Stubing in the show, sailed on its first voyage as a Princess ship.
"Pacific Princess holds so many memories and cherished experiences to all who sailed upon her," said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president.
"Pacific Princess offered a traditional style of cruising to unique destinations. While it’s difficult to say goodbye to our ‘Love Boat,’ our world cruise and exotic itineraries continue onboard our Medallion Class-enabled Island Princess and Coral Princess."
According to the company the ship completed 11 world cruises and sailed 1.6 million nautical miles in its lifetime.
It had a capacity for just 670 passengers.
Guests with bookings will be notified with rebooking options for other Princess ships or may request a refund.
