Philippines budget carrier Cebu Pacific has revealed Guam as its first US destination and will begin a four times a week service from March 2016.
Cebu Pacific will operate flights from Manila on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, using the airline’s new Airbus A320 aircraft.
"Having Guam in our network sets us off on another expansion path across the Pacific. With the launch of Guam, we offer fares that are up to 83% lower than other airlines. Fares this low can only mean more tourists to both countries, more Filipinos visiting home, and more opportunities for everyone," said Cebu Pacific president Lance Gokongwei.
The new flights are possible after the US Federal Aviation Administration upgraded the Philippines’ air safety standards to category 1 earlier this year, allowing carriers like Cebu Pacific to apply for new routes the US.
Philippine Airlines and United Airlines also serve the route.
CEB has also applied for clearance to fly to Hawaii.
The airline, which has a fleet of more than 50 jets, doesn’t yet have planes capable of flying nonstop to the US mainland.
