Changes at Jetstar Asia
Jetstar Asia has appointed Mr Neil Thompson as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the airline following the decision by current Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ken Ryan, to return to Australia in December.
Mr Thompson, who is currently General Manager Customer Relationship Marketing at Qantas, will take up his new, interim role immediately.
“Neil has extensive knowledge of the Asian market as well as 18 years’ aviation experience at Qantas, having worked in a range of commercial areas including pricing and yield, international sales, marketing, and alliances, as well as holding a number of senior management postings in key overseas markets in China, Taiwan and Europe.
“His knowledge and expertise will be of great value at Jetstar Asia as it continues to establish itself as a strong, viable airline in Asia,” Chairman of Jetstar Asia, Mr Geoff Dixon said.
Mr Ryan, who was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Jetstar Asia in March 2005, had been based in Singapore since September 2004.
Details of Mr Ryan’s appointment to a new senior management position with Qantas in Sydney and the appointment of a permanent Chief Executive Officer for Jetstar Asia are expected to be announced in 2006.
