Charing Cross evacuated in bomb scare
London’s Charing Cross Station was evacuated this morning after a man climbed on to the tracks and claimed he had a bomb.
Armed police swarmed the station and have since confirmed that the man was arrested.
The 38-year old has been held under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act and taken to a place of safety.
British Transport Police said the station has now re-opened.
It thanked passengers and rail staff for their ‘patience and understanding’ during the incident, which happened just after 6.30am.
