Child dies after falling from Carnival ship atrium
Police are investigating the death of an 8-year-old girl who fell from the atrium on a Carnival cruise ship on Saturday morning.
The child fell about 20 feet from the interior atrium to the lower deck on Carnival Glory just after it arrived in Miami at the end of a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise.
Carnival said the ship’s medical team responded immediately and took the girl to the on board medical centre.
She was then taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she died.
"Our most heartfelt condolences are with the family at this very difficult time," said a spokesman for the cruise line.
