China sets up ‘separation line’ at Mt Everest summit
China plans to set up a ‘line of separation’ at the summit of Mount Everest to separate climbers from those who ascend the mountain from Nepal. It comes as Covid rates have surged in Nepal and some climbers have reportedly caught Covid at the Nepal base camp.
Mountaineers from the Chinese Tibet side will will not be allowed to have contact with anyone from the Nepal side. Tibetan mountaineering guides have been sent up the mountain to map out a buffer zone
