China Southern Airlines has quit the SkyTeam alliance.
The airline, which will leave on January 1, said the decision ‘reflects its strategic development, the changing trends of the global aviation industry and the evolution of alliances’.
It said the process of leaving would take the whole of 2019 and reassured customers and partners that it would work closely with SkyTram to ensure a ‘seamless’ transition.
Kristin Colvile, SkyTeam CEO said: "China Southern has been a valued member of SkyTeam. We respect its decision and wish it well."
