Contis makes travel card commissionable to trade

Monday, 18 Mar, 2016 0

Contis Group is making its travel visa debit card commissionable to agents and operators for the first time.

Travel businesses which successfully refer the card to their customers will earn revenue from the first currency load and on all future foreign exchange purchases or overseas ATM withdrawals.

Unlike most rival cards, agents can benefit for the life of the card, even when it expires and is replaced.

"Essentially they will make an income for the life of the card," said Contis.

Contis will track all sales and pays the commission quarterly to the introducer on all transactions.

Called the Seasons Travel Card, the card gives customers ‘competitive’ foreign exchange rates and comes with a mobile app so users can keep track of their holiday spend.

"All too often people come back from holiday with €20 on a card, take a hit to convert the cash into sterling and pay a redemption fee to get the money back into their regular account. The card then gets thrown in a drawer, never to be used again," said Wayne Maraj, head of Seasons Travel Card Business Development.

"We are driving a shift away from one-hit-wonder travel cards. "
