Cruise lines have tightened up mask rules on board ships in recent days in response to surging Omicron infections around the country.
Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean International have strengthened mask wearing protocols on their cruise ships.
Both lines suffered recent shipboard Covid outbreaks, infecting multiple people.
"Given the current health environment, we’ve updated our onboard health and safety protocols and requirements," NCL said.
It now requires masks at all times indoors except when eating or drinking or when in their own stateroom.
It also asks passengers to wear masks outdoors when safe social distancing cannot be maintained.
Royal Caribbean also updated mask rules.
"With the recent uptick of Covid-19 and added omicron variant concerns, we feel it prudent to temporarily tighten our onboard health protocols to require masks indoors at all times, unless actively eating or drinking. This new update also applies to vaccinated areas and venues, "it said in a message to guests.
