Cruise vacations now bookable with United MileagePlus points
United Airlines is hoping to secure more business from customers who are also keen cruisers.
United’s MileagePlus members who live in the 50 United States can now redeem miles to book a cruise.
The carrier has partnered with major cruise agent World Travel Holdings.
MileagePlus members can book voyages worldwide including the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii offered by 20 different cruise lines.
Cruises can also be booked using a combination of miles and money.
United also said members can earn miles for cruises booked through United Cruises, a division of the airline which launched in 2011.
"The program is an excellent addition to the other diverse options we offer to redeem miles, including hotel stays, car rentals, merchandise and auctions for once-in-a-lifetime adventures," said Praveen Sharma, United Airlines vice president, loyalty.
