De Vere profits remain flat

Thursday, 5 May 20053 min read

It was a largely negative day for travel and tourism shares yesterday as London’s main equity indices moved in different directions.

The FTSE 100 index gained 21.3 points to close at 4882.5, while the broader-based FTSE 250 dropped 42.9 points to end the day at 6744.

One significant move came at De Vere hotels, which lost 5p to close at 515p after announcing that its pre-tax profits for the six months to March had risen by just 0.2 per cent to £19.3 million. The group said that, while business and corporate business had been good, the market for leisure breaks had been disappointing.
