Deep sea search for MS804 black boxes set to begin
French investigators are on their way to assist Egyptian authorities locate the black boxes belonging to EgyptAir Flight MS804, which crashed eight days ago.
Three representatives from France’s air safety agency BEA are on board a surveillance vessel heading to the site where the plane crashed.
BEA said the French vessel is equipped with three deep-water devices, called Detector 6000s, with the capability to trace the black box signals.
The aircraft crashed en route to Cairo from Paris, killing all 66 passengers and crew on May 19.
Some debris has been found, but the fuselage and black boxes are still missing.
Egyptian authorities believe terrorism is a more likely explanation than equipment failure.
