Delta flight ‘wired’ for explosives?
Officials decided to turn around a Delta flight, flying from New York to Madrid, when suspicious wires were spotted sticking out in a rear lavatory.
Flight 126, a Boeing 767-300 carrying 206 passengers, was turned round last night 90 minutes after take off and directed back to New York JFK.
Bomb squad officials and a heavily armed SWAT team searched the plane full of terrified passengers, according to the Daily Mail.
Two wires were found inside plastic straws. One was found in a toilet and one in a sink.
The flight was returned to JFK out of an "abundance of caution," said Delta, and two passengers, a man and a woman were questioned and later released.
Bomb technicians examined the plane but no evidence of explosives was found.
Investigations are continuing.
