Disney testing guided tour business
Disney is expanding its vacation offerings this summer with guided tours through Wyoming and Hawaii.
Disney will be running 15 tours at a “test” cost of $5,600 to $7,800 for a family of four, exclusive of airfare, reported the Associated Press.
Disney says if the 30-person group tours are popular, they may become a fixture that will be expanded to other destinations.
The tours are called “Escape to Paradise” and “Quest for the West.”
The tours are designed to offer the “immersive family vacation experience that started with Disneyland Park 50 years ago,” the company said in a statement.
The Hawaiian tours will include snorkeling, volcano tours, and surfing and beach activities. In Wyoming, the tour will include Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks, in addition to the cowboy country of Jackson Hole.
Disney is pitching the idea to families on Disney Cruise Line.
Walt Disney Co. spokeswoman Lisa Haines said the company is considering doing the tours on a a regular business. She said the initial response to the concept has been good. The working title for the business is “Adventures by Disney.”
Will Disney costumed characters be part of the tours?
Only under very controlled settings, said Ms Haines.
