Disney’s Skyliner back in the air
Disney’s stalled Skyliner gondola ride has reopened a week after breaking down and stranding riders for hours.
The Disney Parks Blog said it is back up and running but still hasn’t disclosed the cause of the high profile breakdown.
The Skyliner system came to an abrupt halt after several cars crashed into each other just days after it launched.
The malfunction left some guests trapped inside cars for up to four hours.
"Following a complete review with the manufacturer, we’ve made adjustments to our processes and training, and we are improving how we communicate with guests during their flight with Disney Skyliner," Disney said.
Some guests had complained about the slow response to the accident and lack of information.
Skyliner connects Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios with several Disney resort hotels.
Union officials at the local Reedy Creek Fire department say a lack of manpower makes it difficult for them to respond effectively to emergencies.
Skyliner will partially close again on October 16-18 for further improvements.
The Hollywood Studios line will be closed while other lines will open in the afternoon.
