EasyJet provides lounges
EasyJet has moved further towards emulating the traditional airline model by offering airport lounges for passengers.
The no-frills carrier will offer free beer, wine, spirits snacks and access to business facilities in the easyJetLounges.
Lounge use is pre-bookable online at a cost of £12 at 33 airports in Europe, excluding Belfast, Basel and Paris Orly. A new lounge opens at Nottingham East Midlands airport this month.
The lounges are being offered for use by easyJet passengers through a deal with Servisair/GlobeGround.
The airline’s head of ancillery revenue Hemant Desai said: “This jointly developed lounge booking service compliments easyJet.com as a one stop travel shop offering our business and leisure travellers a simple, quick and easy website with a wide choice of products at the most competitive rates.”
Meanwhile, easyJet said today that its May passenger carryings rose by almost 22% over the same month last year to 2.5 million, with a load factor up three percentage points to 84.1%.
In the 12 months ending May 2005, the airline’s revenue was up 22% to £1.239 billion.
But chief executive Ray Webster said: “At prevailing fuel prices and exchange rates, we continue to expect reported pre-tax profit to be below last year but in line with current expectations.”
