Easyjet senior managers will be at UK airports on Thursday dressed as tax collectors in a mark of protest against the doubled Air Passenger Duty.
The airline says managers will explain to customers why they are being asked to pay this additional tax and highlight why the so called ‘Environmental tax’ will not create any environmental benefits.
“As the Government has, in effect, made easyJet the tax collector, this is exactly what the airline plans to do,” said a statement.
“During the past few weeks easyJet has been contacting its passengers to advise them of the additional tax that needs to be paid and whilst the majority of easyJet passengers have contacted the airline in advance to pay this charge, a small number of passengers will also be paying at the airport prior to travel.”
