Emergency slide lands in Chicago backyard
An investigation is underway after an emergency slide fell from the sky and landed in a suburban backyard.
The slide somehow fell from a United Airlines Boeing 767 just before it landed at Chicago O’Hare Airport.
The FAA is investigating.
As it fell, it slightly damaged a house although there were no injuries reported.
It was described as ‘bigger than a small car,’
It landed in the backyard of Chicago resident Patrick Devitt.
Devitt said it happened around midday when his son and father-in-law were in the house.
“We immediately contacted the FAA and are working with our team to better understand the circumstances around this matter,” United said.
A similar incident happened in late 2019, when an evacuation slide fell from a Delta flight into a garden in Massachusetts.
